You are already one step further than you were yesterday.
Hello, I'm Denise Valdez, a bilingual Spanish-speaking Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Child Development from California State University Dominguez Hills, followed by a Masters in Social Work from Simmons University. Currently, I am pursuing my Doctorate in Social Work at Simmons University.
My professional journey includes extensive experience in diverse settings such as non-profit organizations, community mental health agencies, schools, and group practices. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working with clients spanning from children to adults.
As a first-generation Mexican-American and the daughter of immigrant parents, my personal experiences have shaped my passion for addressing disparities within communities. I am particularly committed to supporting communities of color and reducing mental health stigma in the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and Latinx communities.
My therapeutic approach is rooted in social justice principles, acknowledging and addressing systemic oppression. I strive to create a safe, anti-racist, and non-judgmental space where I meet individuals where they are in their journey. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy; I adapt my methods to best suit your unique needs and goals.
Central to my practice is the belief that trust between therapist and client is essential for meaningful therapeutic outcomes. I am dedicated to supporting you as you embark on your journey towards healing and personal growth.
I am excited about the opportunity to work with you and am committed to providing compassionate and effective therapy.
